Thai designers from Supermachine Studio were commissioned by the University of Bangkok to renovate their new Student Activity Center (SAC) on campus. This was the latest and most challenging project for the studio, whom have previously redesigned other buildings for the school.
Supermachine Studio designed this building not only for its function of a common space for study and leisure but also to offer a striking design. As you can see by the images, it is a complete success!
Led by Pitupong Chaowakul and Jetsada Phongwasin , the principal architects and founders of the studio, the team has transformed an old dormitory building into a student refuge offering various activity spaces. There are even areas where students can “chill out” in suspended nets!
Some of the offerings in this new building include a photo studio , a music room , a Thai dance club , 20 classrooms , meeting rooms and a training room for cheerleaders. The building was severely damaged in 2011 by floods that hit Thailand and the redesign was an enormous challenge.
The structure ( 2,200 s.q.m.) was completely transformed from the previous 32 dormitory rooms into something completely new – both ultra colorful and inspirational to its core!
What student wouldn’t be enthusiastic about studying and playing in this amazing new Student Center?!
